Have you ever got a 400 Error when visiting a site that usually loads? Browsers can be the root cause of a lot of different Errors.
There are many reasons this can happen while surfing the web. When you sign into sites and save your login credentials for quick access later, your browser is creating a set of Cookies and saving data to a Cache to make this possible.
Cookies are essentially a wristband or ID that sites use to recognize you, after you have already been permitted access. Think the wristbands at your local carnival or bar, you pay to get in, you have been verified to have access and if you leave and were to return, simply show your wristband and Boom, your back in! This is a Website Cookie. Cookies are stored on both the server (the site your visiting) and your Browser (your device).
Cache data is the saved state of the sites you visit. This helps to load sites more quickly and allow you to "Pick Up Where You Left Off". The Cache is valuable for loading sites although it is only stored within the Browser.
Cache and Cookies work together to create an efficient way to access the things you use most on the web. This is how sites know what your interested in or how adds can be targeted and unique to each individual. This is sometimes great, like when your workflow requires seamless integration for your Accounts and sites, enabling quick access and unified results of who you are. This can also cause troubles too.
Over time, as you grow your browsers Cache and Cookies you may notice some sites have trouble loading. This can come in the form of errors, slow loading times, or completely wrong login information being used when trying to sign in. These problems can cause a lot of stress and definitely interupt your flow. To cover a little more on this, Say you sign into your email with one account, you save the login data and are able to click into this site and log in within a couple clicks as your username and password are flashed before your eyes and then Boom, your in. Then you log in to the same email provider with a different email(say a work email), you also save this email's login data and are able to again login quickly to your site. Well, now you have just made two separate Cache and Cookie sets for the same site. This can cause confusion for the browser at times. When trying to load into a site and it is showing your personal email and password yet it fails to sign you in. Changing passwords and updating still doesn't do the trick either. This may be a Cache and Cookie mixup. The site may actually be injecting your work email data as you click the sign in button, causing an error that prevents you from signing in. How do I fix this!?
Its actually pretty easy to troubleshoot Browser Issues. There are a few things you should try before jumping to conclusions that its your Cache and Cookies though. First we look at using different browsers and Inprivate / Incognito Windows to test clean environments that don't have those Cache and Cookies stored in them.
